Titletown Manufacturing prepares parts for OEM machinery
Industrial precision grinding comprises an important aspect of the CNC machining operations that Titletown Manufacturing performs for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) throughout Wisconsin. This step in the manufacturing process brings rough metal stock to its final dimensions, with tolerances within .0002 inches of spec.
“We have expanded our industrial precision grinding capabilities to handle larger metal pieces such as those used in the production of frames,” notes Dan Hilliard, co-owner of Titletown Manufacturing. “The large parts required for some machine assemblies still depend on the exacting outputs we can achieve through our industrial precision grinding operations.”
Titletown Manufacturing’s spacious facility provides the ideal environment for safe and efficient industrial precision grinding services. Our skilled workforce fine-tunes metal stock into dimensions and finishes appropriate for the final application. Many of these projects deliver to customers in the paper converting, pulp and tissue industries, as well as defense contractors, material handling equipment and machinery, food production systems and machines used in the energy sector.
Industrial precision grinding techniques vary by desired outcome
Titletown Manufacturing performs three different types of industrial precision grinding operations depending on the size, shape and targeted portion of the stock. It is common for machines to include parts requiring multiple CNC machining operations prior to assembly.
Surface grinding is the technique most often used on smaller pieces and typically takes a part down to its final dimensions. These pieces usually are 12 x 24 inches or less. Blanchard grinding (also known as rotary surface grinding) is an industrial precision grinding method that we use to remove material from stock that has large surface areas. Our Blanchard grinder features a 40-inch diameter table to hold the stock in place.
Finally, outside diameter (OD) grinding is a method specific to cylindrical stock. Our team can bring these pieces down to within .0002 inches of the target diameter with finishes as fine as 8 Ra (roughness average). We can perform OD grinding on stock as large as 95 inches long and 16 inches in diameter.
