Our opportunity: Help the Elks Foundation hit nothing but net

Medalcraft Mint brass medalThe Elks National Foundation wanted to do something special this year on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Elks Hoop Shoot, a national free throw contest for youth ages 8-13. The organization had partnered with Medalcraft Mint to produce a wide range of commemoratives over the years, and the combination of the anniversary and creation of the Elks Hoop Shoot Hall of Fame called for a double dose of giveaways.

Medalcraft Mint created a 1.25-inch brass medal with an antique finish and color enamel for presentation to the first Elks Hoop Shoot Hall of Fame members. Recipients included former Hoop Shoot finalists and volunteers who helped build the program over the past 50 years.

“The Medalcraft team came up with the design of the brass medal despite very little direction from us,” says Kate Keating Edsey, Development and Events Manager. “They came boxed beautifully for a presentation we did on the court during the competition in Chicago. It is a very special piece, and different from everything we’ve done.”

Next up was a brass lapel pin with an antique finish and color enamel to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Hoop Shoot program. Medalcraft artists worked with the Elks team to ensure a beautiful representation of the 50th anniversary logo on the pin.

“Elks like to collect lapel pins, and this unique pin truly stands out,” Kate says. “People were so happy with them that they were buying multiples to give away. The great thing about Medalcraft Mint is they really seem to understand not only our needs, but also our history and the things we’ve done before.”
